The LEMKEN Solitair - a success story in 10,000 chapters
Milestone seed drill to be auctioned
When LEMKEN launched the Solitair seed drill 17 years ago, this marked the company's successful entry into pneumatic seeding technology. With its double disc coulters and depth control rollers for high-precision seed deposition, the Solitair broke new ground in modern seed drill technology. Proud to celebrate 10,000 sold Solitair machines, LEMKEN will auction the milestone machine and donate the proceeds to a charity.
The Solitair has been very much a constant in the LEMKEN product range and an important driver of our sales: this machine is now sold in 38 countries. Over the years, the Solitair family has been extended to include not only the Solitair 9 with a maximum working width of 6 metres, but also the Solitair 12, our top-of-the-range product with up to 12 metres working width, and the base model, the Solitair 8 with mechanical seeding shaft. The most recent addition to the family is the Compact-Solitair trailed tillage combination with optimised Optidisc double disc coulters, which combines proven pneumatic seeding technology with a Heliodor compact disc harrow or a Zirkon rotary harrow for seedbed preparation. Working widths of 3 and 6 metres and large tanks with a capacity of 3,500 litres in the rigid and 4,500 litres in the folding versions ensure outstanding efficiency. The Compact-Solitair range is rounded off with a split-tank model for simultaneous under-root fertilisation, which is particularly attractive for farmers in regions with short vegetation periods.
LEMKEN showcased the 10,000th Solitair at last year's Agritechnica to mark the launch of a limited-time-only sales promotion. At the end of this campaign, the milestone machine, a Solitair 9 with 3 metres working width mounted to a Heliodor compact disc harrow, will be publicly auctioned at the agricultural machinery auction in Meppen on 15.05.2014 so it can finally be put to its intended use on a farm. LEMKEN will donate the money raised from the auction to the German-Indian Cooperation Association, which will use it to fund a social project near our Indian production site in Nagpur.
