Deeper, faster, more intensive: Rubin 12
New compact disc harrow from LEMKEN
LEMKEN currently covers the range of shallow stubble cultivation with the two compact disc harrow series, Heliodor 8 and Rubin 9, and working widths up to 12 m. These machines are now complemented by the Rubin 12, a new range of models, which has been shown for the first time in a 3 m version at Agritechnica. Mixing and crumbling more intensively, this new compact disc harrow can work up to 20 cm deep, an operational range that has previously been restricted to tined cultivators only. Compared to cultivators forward speed is higher with less wheel slip, which enables the Rubin 12 to achieve a higher area performance with less fuel consumption.
The new Rubin 12 differs from its successful namesake, Rubin 9, in several respects. 732 mm diameter discs allow the 20 cm working depth. A new symmetrical arrangement of the discs improves the track-keeping of the compact disc harrow. By pulling straight behind the tractor, it is easier to match one field pass to the next, particularly important if using GPS steering. 18 scalloped concave discs across 3 m working width are arranged with 8 discs in the front row and 10 in the second row. Disc spacing is approximately 17 cm with 120 cm between front and rear row. To guarantee an optimal soil flow, the central disc of the front row is set slightly backward, and the corresponding disc of the rear row set slightly forward.
A rebound harrow, behind the first row, controls the soil flow whilst a levelling tine harrow behind the rear row optimally distributes and perfectly levels the soil. Both harrows can be conveniently and steplessly adjusted via sealed adjuster screws. The Rubin 12 features a Uni-wheel that provides trouble-free manoeuvrability on the headland and during road transport. This also allows heavy rollers to be used for reconsolidation, such as a packer profile roller with a weight of approximately 1,100 kg per 3 metres compared to a knife roller with 540 kg.
It's tool arrangement makes the Rubin 12 appropriate for primary and secondary stubble cultivation even in the most heavy soil conditions. Large amounts of organic matter are intensively and uniformly mixed throughout the working depth. Market introduction is intended for 2013 after a thorough trial period.
